In 2017 Laird was commissioned to write new music for a short film about a Zombie apocalypse. Set in the future the composer had the image of a dystopian world crossed somewhere between Dawn of the Dead (1978) and the science fiction classic, Fifth Element (1997). 

 

Laird began work on a number of works which encompassed various styles from solo piano, string quartets and symphonic metal. As the project developed Laird drew on his love for Film/Game scores and the first finished result was Orchestral Epic No.1. It became the Prelude to a collection of works that will take the listener on a wild musical journey.
